Background
In the spring of 2016, the Metropolitan Area Planning Council agreed to assist the Town of Middleton in the creation of a community-wide Bicycle and Pedestrian Network Master Plan, with the goal of encouraging implementation of bicycle and pedestrian accommodations and to create a network of on-road and off-road facilities for safe, non-automotive travel. While the focus of the Plan is on short-term, low-cost solutions, the plan also covers longer-term opportunities, such as off-road trails and separated bicycle lanes. The Plan includes elements identifying accommodations that aim to improve the pedestrian experience at a limited number of locations.
This plan was funded entirely through $10,000 from MAPC and $10,000 from the Massachusetts Community Compact program.
