[ARCHIVED] Danvers Water System Improvements

On Tuesday June 21, 2022, the Town of Danvers will be commissioning the startup of a Chlorine Booster Station, located at the Folly Hill water storage tank. This new station will add chlorine to the water at Folly Hill rather than relying on adding chlorine at the Treatment Plant in Middleton. The purpose of the chlorine is to disinfect the water and this new station will provide more evenly distributed disinfection throughout our system. The Town is required to test the performance of the station for final approval by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP).

The initial startup of the Chlorine Booster Station will temporarily change the distribution and pressure of water throughout Danvers and Middleton. Distribution and pressure changes may last for a short duration of time between the hours of 6:00am-10:00am. The water supply will be maintained by the water storage tank located at the former Danvers State Hospital during the startup. Due to the nature of this type of distribution system change, Danvers and Middleton customers may experience some temporary inconveniences such as the loss of water pressure and slightly discolored water. The Town of Danvers will make every effort to keep these inconveniences to a minimum but is requesting residents to immediately contact the Town of Danvers Engineering Division at 978-777-2668 or the Danvers Water Treatment Plant at 978-774-5054 for any noticeable changes in water quality.
