February 2025 Update
As a participant in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), Middleton is committed to meeting the program standards, as issued by FEMA and managed by the NFIP State Coordinator through the MA Department of Conservation and Recreation.
FEMA has issued updated Flood Insurance Rate Maps for Middleton which will be effective on July 8, 2025 and updated guidance on floodplain districts in local bylaws. The Planning Board is currently working on updating Middleton’s Zoning Code Section 8.1: Floodplain Overlay District to align with the new guidance. Review the changes proposed to Middleton Zoning Code Section 8.1: Floodplain Overlay District (draft last revised February 26, 2025).
It is important to note that all the proposed amendments are required for continued participation in the National Flood Insurance Program.
The exact boundaries of the district will continue to be defined by the one percent chance base flood elevations shown on the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) effective July 8, 2025.
